Brecksville Home Days Bigger Than Ever for City's Bicentennial

Every year, Brecksville residents come together at the intersection of Royalton and Brecksville roads to celebrate and enjoy a large variety of delicious culinary treats and great music.

This year, Brecksville Home Days will be bigger than ever, because the city is celebrating its 200th birthday.

The event, which will be held from June 23 to 26, will feature a visit from the world famous Budweiser Clydesdales as well as the pride of Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School, NASA astronaut Michael T. Good. It will include a two hour parade on the 25th, a grand fireworks display on the 26th, and car and new transportation shows.

Astronaut Good will serve as the parade’s grand marshal, and accompany a NASA float. A NASA display will be set up near the rides to offer visitors the chance to see a 3.7 billion year old piece of the moon brought back by the Apollo 17 crew.

The city is very proud of the fact that Brecksville Home Days truly is a community event devoid of companies attempting to advertise their wares or politicians hoping to secure more votes. Rather, booths are reserved for Brecksville organizations only.

This year, booths will be manned by Brecksville Center for the Arts, Brecksville Beautification Committee, Brecksville Historical Association, Kiwanis Club of Brecksville and the Brecksville United Methodist Women with their cherry pies.

Once again, Kissel Bros. will be providing rides on Old Stadium Drive by the Horticultural Department to be enjoyed by children, the young at heart, and thrill seekers of all ages.
