The Scoop on some of the Best Ice Cream Places in Town

Summertime has officially arrived in Cleveland, and to celebrate the fact, here is a list of some of the best places to get ice cream in the region!

For a distinctively retro feel, visit Sweet Moses at 6800 Detroit Ave., Cleveland. A newcomer to the local ice cream scene, this super sweet old-fashioned soda fountain in Gordon Square is a throwback to yesteryear. Enjoy a sundae, genuine phosphate or soda drink, a peanut better sandwich, or share a giant ten scoop Terminal Tower Sundae with a big group of friends. The Shoreway Sundae, a coffee ice cream concoction topped with whipped cream, toffee, chocolate and nuts is definitely a must try.

If unique and innovative flavors are more to your taste, Ohio City Ice Cream Co. at 4401 Bridge Ave., Cleveland offers apricot sorbet, baklava crunch, gelato cupcakes and lemon skyburst custard in a vinage minimalist setting.
Possibly the best looking ice cream stand in town would have to be East Coast Original Frozen Custard located at 6240 Pearl Road in Parma Heights. This neon drive-through hangout serves concretes, cones, shakes, sundaes and malts, but the star of the show is the rich creamy custard, which has new flavors daily.

You may have to wait in line at Honey Hut on 4674 State Road, Cleveland, as this south side favorite is well known for its delicious homemade ice cream and “Original May Co. Malt”, but the wait is definitely worth it. Now at Edgewater Park and other area locations in addition to State Road.

Nestled amongst other hip establishments in the trendy neighborhood of Tremont sits the very cool Tremont Scoops, located at 2362 Professor St., Cleveland. Its offerings include hand dipped Ashby’s ice cream by the ounce, unique flavors such as Cotton Candy Twist and Banana Pudding, and a nice selection of vegan and sorbet options.
