It’s once again time for the annual Tri-C High School Rock Off, now on its 16th year. The battles kick off at the House of Blues on East Fourth Street and Euclid Avenue in Cleveland on Saturday. The event will end with the Final Exam on Saturday, February 11.
More than 60 groups will compete for prizes, including the chance to appear on television on Cuyahoga Community College’s show, “Crooked River Groove.” Other prizes include cash, an opening slot for a national act at a concert put on by promoter Live Nation and recording time at Ante Up Audio. The groups will play music from all kinds of genres including classic rock, punk rock, emo rock, indie rock, ska, R&B and more.
Round 1 takes place on Saturday at 3:30pm, featuring bands Abraham Lincoln from Upper St. Clair, Bam! from Oberlin, Blue Fin from Cuyahoga Falls and Hoban, Burkley from Lakeview, Copykat Crisis from Brunswick, D-Flo and the Improv Magic from Parma, Elipsus from Akron, Runaway Summers from Paulding, the Lake Effect from Willoughby South, the Siren Slaves from Highland and Uptight from Wellington and Keystone.
Tickets for the semifinals and the Final Exam are $10 each. They can be purchased through participating Rock Off bands, and there are no service charges on tickets purchased through the bands.
