The 17th annual Tri-C High School Rock Off is well underway, with 61 bands having made it to the semi-finals of the competition.
The event, which is staged at the Cleveland House of Blues every year by Live Nation, consists of six rounds. The first round will happen on Friday, January 11. Bands will compete in five additional rounds until 18 finalists are selected to go on to the “Final Exam,” happening on Saturday, February 9 at 3pm.
The winning band will split $1,000 in cash as well as $200 for the band’s high school’s music program. They will also get to open for a Live Nation or House of Blues concert, and a 45-minute concert tape in front of a live audience, to be aired on Cuyahoga Community College’s cable television program “Crooked River Groove.”
A Live Nation release states that, “In addition, the (winning) band will be featured on the three-time Emmy Award-winning program “Words & Music,” with an interview and unplugged performance.”
Tickets to the semifinals and finals cost $10 each, and are available from competing bands or at the House of Blues box office. For more information, please visit livenation.com.
