According to Economic Development Director Brent Painter, 250 new jobs have been created in Strongsville since January.
Painter spoke at the city’s quarterly Business Networking Breakfast and gave a rundown of business growth and activity over the last few months.
ITT Techical Institute has completed renovation that includes an Internet cafe and new classrooms. Industrial Video on Sprague Road is planning an expansion of 3,500 square feet. A food menu that includes burgers starting at $3, other sandwiches, sides and salads has been introduced at Olympia Candies, which serves from 11am to 9pm daily. Crews are now removing asbestos at the former Subway/Page One Realty plaza on Pearl Road just south of Royalton Road, and the building will be torn down next week. A new shopping center and new tenants will then replace it. Momentive will break ground on June 10 for a $6 million expansion that will enable the company to make LED lighting material in Strongsville. It is located in the city’s industrial park. A Taste of Excellence located at 16888 Pearl Rd has moved into a renovation of the former Strongsville Lanes and will open a bakery in the fall and a farmers’ market next year.
Painter called the renovation “beautiful” and said of the plans for the bakery and farmers’ market, “It’s really going to update that whole area of town.”
