Memorial Day weekend is coming up, and as usual there are tons of activities to do and events to attend all around Cleveland.
The Tremont Greekfest has become Cleveland Memorial Day tradition to look forward to. This year’s event is the 42nd installment, and as always, promises fun, music and dance, and lots and lots of delicious Greek food.
The event takes place from May 25th to 28th at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in the historic Tremont District. Located just south of downtown, the quiet and tranquil church is transformed into a festive Greek taverna, where the ladies of the church typically serve more than 30,000 meals every year during the festival! Expect plenty of authentic Greek food including traditional gyros, lamb, mousakka, Greek Salad, Greek meat balls, and oven roasted chicken. For dessert, try the world famous loukoumathes, baklava and a wide assortment of pastries.
Besides food galore, there will also be a bazaar selling Greek jewelry and other treasures, as well as an outside beer garden with live music. For entertainment, the younger members of the church dress in traditional clothes and perform the historic dances of the old country.
The Greek Festival is open from noon to midnight on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and from noon to 9pm on Monday. Admission is free. For more information, log on to tremontgreekfest.com.
