The West 78th Street Studios are open every third Friday of the month to offer multiple art gallery shows and openings, live entertainment, and food and drink to those passionate and interested in the arts.
Located at 1300 West 78th Street, one block north of Lake Avenue in Cleveland, this once obscure relic of the industrial past has now reached critical mass as a vital new center of gravity in the Cleveland visual arts scene. Once the location of the Baker Electric Car factory, and originally built as five interconnected brick buildings from 1905 to 1922, Creative Studios has come a long way and undergone a significant makeover.
Dan Bush, a Brecksville entrepreneur, bought the complex for less than a million dollars in 2001, and subsequently tranformed it into a mecca for artistic incubation, commerce and creativity.
On the third Friday of every month, the doors to the spaces are all opened to welcome over a thousand visitors with art, food, drink and music. These events have been steadily increasing in popularity over the last year and a half.
The next event will be held on Friday, June 17, from 5pm to 9pm, with live music at 9:30pm. Touch Supper Club will be dishing out the culinary treats, which last month included Korean sliders, Vietnamese pork lettuce wraps and kimchi beef tacos.
Bush says, “I couldn’t be more excited by what’s happened on its own momentum. There wasn’t any grand plan. When people give me credit for it, I have a tough time taking it, but I will.”
