The annual Geauga County Maple Festival will take place from Thursday, April 25 to Sunday, April 28 at Chardon Square at the crossroads of State Route 44 and U.S. Route 6.
Now on its 84th year, the Geauga County Maple Festival is the oldest and one of the largest of its kind in the United States. It celebrates the production of maple syrup, one of the leading agricultural industries in Northeast Ohio. This year’s festival will include other fun activities such as rides, arts and crafts vendors and competitions, bathtub races, kiddie tractor pulls, tug o’war, a lumberjack competition, pancakes in the park and lots of food and live entertainment. Of course, the main highlight of the event will be the maple syrup tapping and a syrup and candy contest and auction. There will also be a parade and a Queen, Prince and Princesses contest as there is every year. The contest is a sort of pageant where young ladies from different high schools in the area compete to be crowned the Festival Queen, and young children from different grade schools in the area compete to be the Prince and Princess.
Festival hours are from noon to 10pm on Thursday, 10am to 11pm on Friday and Saturday, and 11am to 7pm on Sunday. For more information and a complete schedule of activities, please visit www.maplefestival.com.
