The annual Ward 4 garage sale started on Thursday and will continue over the weekend. Hours are 8am to 4pm and participating homes are marked with balloons.
Those who took part as sellers were pleasantly surprised by the sunny skies and warmer weather they were greeted with Thursday morning. Rainy weather has put a slight damper on spring break for locals, though the weather is expecting to clear up in the coming weeks.
Beth Smith of White Bark Drive said, “Can you believe it? What luck.”
According to Ward 4 Councilman Scott Maloney, the three day event, which has become an annual event, traditionally takes place the weekend before Memorial Day. This year however, there are fewer sellers than in previous years.
Kim Malangone of White Bark said, “It used to be the whole neighborhood. We’d all just kind of trade our stuff.”
Smith added, “It’s a good opportunity when the whole area does it.”
But even though only a few households were participating in the event, at least a dozen cars were still parked along the street on White Bark.
Ward 4 covers the area west of Pearl Road between Royalton and Boston, and east of Pearl Road between Royalton and Shurmer.
If you are looking for a good bargain, drop by the area and participate in the event. All you need to do is look for the houses with balloons out front.
