Anselmo's Pizzeria teaches kids to make pizza in Summer Fun program

As part of the North Royalton Parks and Recreation Summer fun program, owners of Anselmo’s Pizzeria in North Royalton Chris and Kristi Ansley welcomed children into their Wallings Road shop and gave them the chance to learn how to make a pizza pie.

Kids gathered in the Ansley’s kitchen in groups of three to stretch and form their dough, spread tomato sauce onto the pies and choose their own toppings. There were various and numerous options, but most of the kids chose to make the tried and tested, classic favorite pepperoni pizza.

The children watched as they left the pizza dough tossing to the professionals.

Kim Carver of Broadview Heights brought her son Ken, 11 to participate in the event.

“He loves to cook, so I thought this would be a wonderful activity for him,” she said.

Meanwhile, Brianna Zinsky of North Royalton, also 11, came with her mother Holly and made two pizzas–one each for her and her mom. “For my mom’s pizza, I put the pepperonis in a heart shape,” she said. “I made my pizza with onions and pepperoni.”

It was a fun activity enjoyed by all who participated and a great way to encourage youngsters to experiment in the kitchen and whip up healthy, tasty homemade food.
