Black Pig to open in Ohio City August 15

Chef Michael Nowak’s highly anticipated restaurant, Black Pig, is finally opening on Wednesday, August 15 in Ohio City.

Chef-owner Nowak, formerly of renowned restaurant Bar Cento, said, “Everything took a little bit longer than the quoted times, but we finally got the call (August 10) that we could drive to Columbus for our liquor license–so we’re headed there now.”

The doors of Black Pig will be opened to the public after a special Dinner in the Dark fundraising event on August 13.

Of the restaurant’s interiors and exteriors, Nowak said, “We’ve worked really hard to make this a beautiful space. Our back patio is all done, the front patio is set out, we’ve built a solid staff front-of-the-house and back–and personally, I’m excited to get back into the kitchen cooking.”

The restaurant features a raised back patio that offers a magnificent view of downtown Cleveland’s skyline. Its menu centers on pork, as its name implies. However, Nowak promises that the culinary offerings will be diverse, ranging from sandwiches to salads made with vegetables and greens raised by Refugee Response in Ohio City and other local sources to remarkable entrees such as roasted duck breast with plump hominy. Desserts will also be made in-house.

The restaurant will be open from 4pm to 11pm Tuesday-Thursday, 4pm to midnight Friday, and noon to midnight Saturday.
