The Brecksville Theater on the Square will open its 37th season with a production of “Annie” starting November 4 at 7:30pm.
Set in the time of the Great Depression and FDR, “Annie” is about an 11-year-old orphan in the titular role, who is adopted by billionaire Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks after living in an orphanage run by the antagonistic Miss Hannigan. 10-year-old Julianna Tate of South Euclid will play the iconic role of Annie in the Brecksville production.
Director Jolene McPherson said of Tate, “She has a very natural voice and a very sweet, genuine stage presence.”
Other lead actors include Caron Wykle of Solon as Miss Hannigan, Bill Bradshaw of Cleveland as Daddy Warbucks and Holly Feiler of Garfield Heights as Grace. The complete cast is made up of 29 actors of all ages and different experience, including nine children from Brecksville and other surrounding cities playing the orphans.
“I think it’s really a terrific mix of very seasoned actors and actresses, as well as people who are brand new to theater and never performed before,” said McPherson.
“It’s been an absolutely wonderful cast to work with. I think it’s a very uplifting musical. It’s a classic,” she added. “I’ve had a great time with this cast.”
The Brecksville Theater on the Square production of “Annie” will run for three weekends. Show times are, 7:30pm November 4-5, 10-12 and 17-19 and 2pm November 6, 13 and 20.All tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and students and can be purchased by calling the box office, (440) 526-3443 or at btots.org.
