Cleveland chefs fight hunger in Foodbank's Market Under Glass benefit

Market Under Glass has been one of Cleveland’s most recognized fundraisers for 16 years now. Dozens of the most popular chefs in the region have come together to donate their culinary creations and to generate support for the Cleveland Foodbank and the Harvest for Hunger campaign, which spans 21 counties.

The organizers of the event have decided to do things a little differently this year. For the first time in the event’s history, guests and supporters will gather in the Foodbank’s 11,000-sqare-foot food distribution center on Sunday, April 22. The center is located just off Interstate 90 in Cleveland. Guests will have the chance to learn how the Foodbank operates and how their contributions make an impact while enjoying food, drinks, live entertainment, a raffle and a silent auction.

Presale tickets are $65 per person through Saturday, March 10. Tickets then will be $75 until March 31, $85 until April 21 and $100 at the door. (VIP tickets are also available; see Row Resources.)

People of all ages are invited, as organizers hope to acquaint many more people with the Foodbank and its mission.

More chefs are also needed to participate. So far, 25 restaurants have signed on to offer samples, including Greenhouse Tavern, Spice Kitchen + Bar, AMP 150, Bar Cento, Grovewood Tavern, Pickwick & Frolic, Muldoon’s Saloon & Eatery, Pearl of the Orient and five Zack Bruell restaurants.

The event is from 6 to 8:30pm on Sunday, April 22, at Cleveland Foodbank, 15500 S. Waterloo Road (just off Interstate 90), Cleveland. Purchase tickets online at cleveland.com/marketatfoodbank or call 216-738-2046. VIP tickets ($150) include a special reception from 5 to 6pm with hand-passed hors d’oeuvres by Zack Bruell Restaurants and other amenities.
