This year’s Ingenuityfest, set for Friday, September 14 through Sunday, September 16 is moving to a new location. The 2012 Cleveland Festival of Art and Technology will take place at docks 32 and 30 north of Cleveland Browns stadium, and the Great Lakes Science Center.
While the 2010 and 2011 festivals took place on the lower level of the Veterans Memorial Bridge, this year’s installment will be held in two large warehouses and on the lakefront. The change of location is a result of collaboration among the festival, the city of Cleveland and the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority.
Paula Grooms, the festival’s executive director, said in a statement, “We are very excited about this new location and feel that it can have the same transformative impact for the festival as the move to the Detroit-Superior Bridge.”
“For three days, our festival audience can explore a space rarely open to the public and see it transformed through the vibrant creativity and innovation of Ingenuityfest,” she went on to say. “It is our hope that this partnership will not only serve the festival well, but will contribute to the long-term vision of downtown, the city of Cleveland and the entire region.”
Last year’s festival drew and audience of 45,000 and this year’s festival is expected to be just as big and exciting. The festival is currently exploring collaborations with the science center, Browns Stadium and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. More details for this year’s festival will be released as the event date grows near.
