Two cultural events are set for this weekend in Cleveland, proving once more just how rich and diverse society is in this city.
First up is the Feast of the Assumption, a religious celebration to be held in Cleveland’s Little Italy neighborhood. You don’t have to Italian to enjoy the festivities; it’s a street fair with the usual rides, entertainment, food, and arts and crafts booths. Of course, the highlight would have to be the procession of a statue of Virgin Mary throughout the neighborhood.
The festival runs from Friday to Monday, with hours being 6pm to midnight on Friday, noon to midnight on Saturday, and noon to 11pm on Sunday and Monday. Admission is free.
Another cultural event taking place is the fourth annual Jewish Food & Culture Festival, which will be held from 11am to 4pm on Sunday at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage in Beachwood. The festival will feature guided tours of the museum, entertainment, and delicious food from Corky & Lenny’s, Jack’s Deli, Aladdin’s, Whole Foods Market, Mister Brisket, Chef Dave’s Catering and Hermann’s Pickles.
Catch the showing of the Marx Brothers 1932 classic “Horse Feathers” for a good laugh, or enjoy music from the Yiddishe Cup Klezmer Band. Admission to all museum galleries and special entertainment is free, however food tickets are required.
