Summer is the perfect time for an all day up to late in the night block party. Discover Gordon Square Arts District Day, now on its second year, was held on Saturday, June 11. The annual bash aims to showcase the rise of Cleveland’s most up and coming neighborhood.
The event opened at 10am on Detroit Avenue between West 54th and West 69th streets and ran on through closing time.
Diverse crowds flocked to Gordon Square to attend the event, from families with children to hip and energetic yuppies looking to party all night. Everyone who attended had a really great time, and after the weekend, people took to Twitter to give positive feedback on the day’s events.
The Cleveland Public Theatre and area bars opened their venues to host performances and activities on stage. The Capitol Theatre showed classic cartoons from 10am to noon, delighting young children and taking their parents on a trip down memory lane.
Shopaholics and fashionistas had a blast checking out the many stores that were open for the day as well as the Cleveland area fashion designer showcase at Cleveland Designs. Artsy types were drawn to Collective Upcycle to check out the local artist pop up boutique of artwork made from reused and recycled materials, as well as an exhibition of Cleveland artists presented by SpringBoard Artists Inc. and held at One.Hundred.Percent. Various restaurants offered their best culinary treats to hungry diners.
Lolly the Trolley was on hand providing free round trip shuttles every half hour to University Circle for Parade the Circle.
