Earth Day is this Sunday, and here are a couple ways you can celebrate this special day dedicated to saving the environment in and around Cleveland:
Round up the whole family and head to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo to celebrate the 42nd anniversary of Earth Day with the EarthFest Party for the Planet. This event is collaboration between Earth Day Coalition and Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. It is pegged as Ohio’s largest environmental education event and the longest running Earth Day celebration in the nation. Last year, an estimated 5,000 people attended the event. The festivities begin at 10am and end at 5pm on Sunday, April 22. While there, you can check out the new baby animals at the zoo and other interesting creatures. The party is free, while admission costs $12.25 for adults and children aged 12 and older, $8.25 for children aged 2 to 11, and free for children under 2 years old.
The Akron Zoo is also hosting a Party for the Planet on the same day; from 11am to 4pm. Exhibitors from the area will be offering information on green practices and how to preserve the environment. Crafts, activities, animal encounters and a visit from the zoo mascot, Conrad Conservation, will provide entertainment for the day. Attendees will also receive exciting giveaways. This event is supported by the National Wildlife Federation, Clean Air Campaign, Sierra Club, Beyond Coal Campaign and The Lube Stop, Inc. It is sponsored by the River Valley Paper Company.
