It’s once again time for the Great American Rib Cook-Off and Music Festival! Held every year on Memorial Day weekend since 1992, the festival has become known as the unofficial start to the Northeast Ohio summer season. This year, the event will be held at Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica, located at 2014 Sycamore Street in Cleveland. It opens on Friday, May 25, at noon and ends on Monday, May 28 at 8pm.
The event traditionally includes live music, barbecued ribs with all the fixings, and a whole lot of fun. The four-day cook-off will feature ten BBQ masters hailing from all over the state and from different parts of the country. Restaurants from Virginia, Texas, South Carolina and Minnesota will all be sending their representatives, while Jack on the Bone based in Massillon will be representing Northeast Ohio. Awards will be given out for the Greatest Ribs, Greatest Sauce, and People’s Choice.
As mentioned above, the festival typically includes live music. This year’s lineup features The B-52’s, Todd Rundgren, Michael Stanley and alternative rock band Staind. Concerts are all included in the admission price.
Tickets are $5 with coupons available at Marc’s stores in Northeast Ohio. Children under 12 are free. Admission includes entertainment, while food prices vary. The Great American Rib Cook-Off and Music Festival will be open from noon to 11pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and from noon to 8pm on Monday.
