Great Lakes Theater presents Les Misérables

The award-winning musical, Les Misérables, based on the French historical novel by Victor Hugo (widely considered one of the greatest novels of the 19th century) is coming to Cleveland. Presented by Great Lakes Theater in cooperation with Cleveland Foundation and Cuyahoga Arts & Culture, the show will run from Friday, October 3 to Sunday, November 9. This new production of Boublil and Schönberg’s epic classic will be directed by Victoria Bussert.

Having won over 100 international awards and performed in front of over 65 million people worldwide, this unforgettable blockbuster moves audiences with its epic tale of passion, broken dreams and redemption, all set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, right in the midst of nation-changing revolution.

It tells the story of the unjustly convicted man Jean Valjean, who is determined to leave his past behind and fulfill his vow to raise the orphan Cosette, all while on the run and being relentlessly pursued by the persistent policeman Javert for breaking his parole. With Javert swiftly closing in and insurrection in the air, Valjean is faced with no choice but to fight for his life and sacrifice everything to protect those he loves. This is a timeless story of the survival of the human spirit.
