Great pre-Valentine's Day things to do with your kids

Love is in the air with Valentine’s just around the corner. Contrary to popular opinion, this holiday isn’t just for sweethearts. Here are a few things you can do to celebrate the day of hearts with your kids or as a family:

The Children’s Museum of Cleveland located at 10730 Euclid Ave is offering its Sweetheart Waffles Family Workshop from 10 to 11:30am on Saturday, February 11. Whip up some delicious waffles with your kids and let them choose their toppings. The workshop costs $5 per person, in addition to museum admission. To register, please call 216-791-7114.

Another sweet way to spend your Saturday would be to attend the annual tree tapping ceremony at the log cabin on Burton Square to learn how maple trees are tapped for syrup, and then tap your own. The event, which is sponsored by the Burton Chamber of Commerce is from 10am to 4pm. Free hot chocolate and doughnuts will be served.

Also happening on Saturday is a TrueNorth Cultural Arts concert featuring songs from the Disney musical, “The Lion King.” Sing along to “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” during the show, directed by Martin Cespedes and musical director Rick Fortney. Shows are at 1:30 and 4:30pm at True North at French Creek. Tickets are $12.50 in advance, $15 at the door for adults, and $7.50 in advance, $10 day of the show for youth under 18.
