The ninth annual IngenuityFest 2013 will take place this weekend at Docks 30 and 32, north of FirstEnergy Stadium on Cleveland’s lakefront. From Friday evening through Sunday, more than 500 performers from around Ohio and other states will be performing to an expected audience of about 40,000 to 45,000.
IngenuityFest is a yearly gathering that highlights the use of technology in dance, music, visual arts and theater. With that in mind, this year’s event, which has the theme “Clouds,” will feature the heavy use of LED walls, holographs and soundscapes.
It won’t be all high-tech and futuristic, though. More traditional artists and performers will also be featured during the festival, such as local painter Michael Greenwald, who submitted four large-scale oil paintings ranging from 6’x4′ to 6’x6′ for the show. Other highlights to look out for include local neon artist Jeff Chiplis’s 60-foot neon landscape; George Kozmon’s monumental “Cloudscape” panoramic mural; Michigan digital violinist Dixon’s Violin’s performance; and a returning favorite act from past years, Cleveland’s Tesla Orchestra, which will light up the waterfront with two enormous Tesla coils by the water.
Festival hours are from 5pm to 1am on Friday, noon to 1am on Saturday, and noon to 6pm on Sunday. For more information on this event, please visit ingenuitycleveland.com.
