Here are a couple of ways you can spend the weekend in Berea meaningfully, by supporting a good cause. Family and friends of Berea residents Larry and Donna Roetzer, who are the former owners of Mootown Creamery, are sponsoring an event that celebrates the fact that Larry has been free of cancer for 13 years. Entitled “Lazy Boys Fundraiser,” the Roetzer’s daughter, Kari Novak, explains that the Relay for Life event was named after her father’s “favorite place to sit.”
The event takes place on Sunday, March 25 from 3 to 6pm at Scoundrel’s Bar & Grill, located at 826 Front St. in Berea. It costs $20 per person and includes all the wings, pasta and salad you can eat as well as all the domestic beer and wine you can drink. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.
Meanwhile, third and fourth graders at the Grindstone Elementary School are holding an Easter candy drive through March 23. All candy donated will go toward the Bunny Bag Project.
On March 31, there will be a canned food drive at the Berea Kiwanis Picnic Pavilion at Coe Lake Park starting 11am. All donated food items will go towards helping stock the shelves at the Berea Welfare food pantry.
