Les Miserables at PlayhouseSquare's Palace Theater in Cleveland

While the latest movie version starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway is currently generating a lot of buzz thanks to its numerous award nominations, the longest-running musical on Broadway has found its way to a Cleveland stage. Les Miserables will be playing at the PlayhouseSquare’s Palace Theatre this month, with a week-long run from Tuesday, February 5 to Sunday, February 10.

Based on the novel by French playwright Victor Huge and produced by Cameron Mackintosh, this much-beloved classic musical centers around the lives of several unforgettable characters, including Jean Valjean, Inspector Javert, Fantine, Cosette and Eponine, whose tragic stories are told amidst a backdrop of political turmoil and civil unrest during the French Rebellion. The play is sung-through, with memorable songs and music composed by Claude-Michel Schönberg and original French lyrics by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel and the English adaptation by Herbert Kretzmer.

Check out the powerful performances, timeless music and spectacular sets at the Palace Theatre at 7:30pm from February 5 to 9 and at 6:30pm on February 10. Matinee shows have also been scheduled. Take note that the each show runs for 2 hours and 50 minutes with a short intermission.
