Matt Danko, pastry chef at Greenhouse Tavern and Noodlecat in Cleveland, has been named one of Eater.com’s “Young Guns Class of 2012.”
According to the website, 16 young chefs from across the nation were recognized as “junior statesmen of the culinary world and are its next stars.”
Judges on the website went on to note, “Matt started at Greenhouse Tavern on the savory side of the kitchen, but has made pastry his own over the last year. He has become THE dessert guy in Cleveland and beyond. He’s on the cusp of serious national heat, too: his selection committee champion was none other than (James Beard Award-winner) Marc Vetri.”
Danko works with executive chef Jonathon Sawyer, himself a winner of several culinary recognitions, at The Greenhouse Tavern, a restaurant that embraces simplicity and approachability and evokes the farm to plate movement. Danko shares his honors with chefs from some of the most prestigious restaurants in the country, including Blue Hill at Stone Farms and WD-50 in New York, Vetri in Philadelphia, and The Publican in Chicago.
