Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and Petco present Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo, happening on Saturday, June 8 from 10am to 3pm. For this event, the Zoo will team up with local humane organizations to find loving new owners and nurturing homes for more than a hundred cats, dogs, kittens and puppies. Most of the animals will be available for immediate adoption.
The participating rescue groups and shelters will also be offering advice on how to choose the right pet for you, and how to properly care for it. All animals available for adoption will have received a medical check up and a vaccination according to their age. Adoption fees, policies and procedures may vary depending on the participating group or organization. Participating groups include Berea Animal Rescue, Brook Park Animal Shelter, Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter, Geauga County Dog Shelter, Public Animal Welfare Society, Second Hand Mutts and Tails from the City.
Visitors may also start saving aluminum cans and bring them to the Cans for Conservation can drive during the Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo event. Proceeds from the drive will go towards the Ruaha Carnivore Project in Tanzania, Africa.
Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo is free and open to the public. It will be held in outdoor tents in the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo’s Ticket Plaza. Visitors planning to attend are discouraged from bringing their current pets to the event for health and safety reasons.
Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is located at 3900 Wildlife Way in Cleveland.
