Muppets from Space showing for free at Capitol Theatre Saturday

We very recently wrote about the 14th annual Cinema at the Square lineup of classic film favorites at PlayhouseSquare, which includes fun kiddie flick Muppet Treasure Island. This Saturday, don’t let your kids miss out on another great classic kids’ movie, Muppets from Space.

The Capitol Theatre on Cleveland’s West Side will be showing the 1999 movie, starting at 10am on August 6. The showing is part of the newly renovated Capitol’s Free Summer Family Films series, and is sponsored by the Near West Intergenerational School. Doors will open at 9:30am, with limited seating, so it would be a good idea to get there early.

According to movie review website Rotten Tomatoes, the movie is “charming and light-hearted” and “this feature captures the early magic of the Muppets.” If your little ones aren’t familiar with Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Animal and other popular Muppet characters yet, this would be the perfect opportunity to introduce them. The iconic group of puppet characters appeals to adults as well, with their own brand of sometimes quite clever comedy.

The Capitol Theatre is located at 1390 W 65th St., Cleveland.
