With St. Patrick’s Day coming up, now would be a good time to check out the newest restaurant on the block at the former home of Cleveland PM. Murphy’s Ale House now occupies the space where Philomena’s used to be, with Kelly green walls and numerous Irish beer signs.
The layout of the restaurant is inviting and unique, with its 250 seating capacity divided into two seating areas instead of one large room, which helps control the noise level. The elevated bar is sleek and curvy, and there is a nicely-designed private dining area that seats around 70 people.
The menu features a wide selection of traditional Irish favorites as well as other popular dishes with a Murphy’s spin on them.
Their best-selling soup is the robust beer-cheese soup, which combines beer with a blend of cheeses simmered with chunks of onion. This is served in a sourdough bread bowl, topped with green scallions and fresh-cut seasoned chips on the side.
Worth mentioning is the Irish steak-and-potato wrap, a filling sandwich stuffed with tender strip-steak slices, fries, roasted red peppers, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato and three cheeses.
The most popular entree would be Murphy’s house-made shepherd’s pie, a specialty of Chef Rob Kovalak’s. Of course, there’s also the ever-popular Irish fish and chips.
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this weekend by getting your fill of honest-to-goodness Irish food and drink at Murphy’s Ale House, located at 7503 Granger Road in Valley View.
