Orchid aficionados in Northeast Ohio have reason to look forward to upcoming events in the following months. The Greater Cleveland Orchid Society Show and Sale has teamed up with Orchid Mania at the Cleveland Botanical Garden for the first time. The Orchid Society Show and Sale will take place on Saturday and Sunday, February 15 and 16. Meanwhile, the 10th Annual Orchid Mania will run through Sunday, March 10.
Garden spokesman Tom O’Konowitz said of the partnership, “This will create a bigger and better orchid experience than we’ve ever had. Between Orchid Mania and the Orchid Society Show, we will see more orchids than ever.”
Orchid Mania features thousands of amazing orchids in bloom, from chocolate-scented Oncodiums to lemon-fresh Cymbidiums. Visitors can expect to see more than 100 varieties of this exotic flower in a colorful and dizzying display. For a behind-the-scenes tour of Orchid Mania led by the Garden’s horticulture staff, you can visit on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am to 9pm for a soiree called “Orchids after Dark” which includes cocktails and chocolates.
Other highlights of Orchid Mania include Children’s Orchid Crafts on Saturdays February 9 and 23 and March 2 and 9 from 1 to 3pm, Ask the Orchid Doctor on the same dates and times and an Orchid Mania Members-Only Sale on Sunday March 10 at 5:30pm.
