Over the next six weeks, residents of Northeast Ohio, The Plain Dealer and cleveland.com will decide which restaurant serves the best pizza in the area.
The decision begins with nominations, which will only be accepted online on cleveland.com. Anyone registered on the site is eligible to nominate any restaurant in The Plain Dealer’s circulation area that serves pizza. It doesn’t matter what kind of pizza you nominate, whether it be New York-style, Chicago-style or gourmet.
Both the name and location must be listed, as only nominations for individual restaurants will be accepted. This means that if the restaurant is part of a chain, the particular location must be specified.
Nominations will be accepted until midnight on Tuesday, October 4. After that the battle for the best pizza title begins. In a series of online votes, readers of The Plain Dealer and cleveland.com will narrow down the nominees until eventually two finalists in each of four regions will be selected by Friday, October 28. Readers will then vote to pick the regional champions. Meanwhile, panels of judges from both publications will taste-test each of the final eight restaurants and pick from each region to head to the final four.
The four restaurants chosen by the judges will be invited to deliver pizzas to The Plain Dealer’s downtown headquarters, where a special judging panel will bite into their offerings.
In the end, the best pizza in Northeast Ohio will be named on November 11.
So what are you waiting for? It’s time to start sampling pizzas from all over Northeast Ohio to help determine which is the best.
