Years ago before television, the Internet and video games were ever invented, one of the only forms of entertainment that families has was gathering in the living room, on the front porch or in front of the fire, around a piano or guitar to sing songs together or listen to the older folks tell stories. Folksinger, storyteller and Cleveland Metroparks Historical Interpreter Foster Brown will recreate this unique experience four evenings in March. During these four dates, he will share stories and songs with his guitar, while the audience is free to sing along, and may even have the chance to tell their own tales or perform a solo piece.
The next event, entitled Silly Songs and Tales, will take place on Friday, March 8 from 7:30 to 9ppm at CanalWay Center on the Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation in Cleveland Metroparks. The event is free of charge and is open to all families and all ages. Visitors can expect Brown to bring his full collection of silly old folk songs and amusing tall tales, as well as tongue twisters, crazy choruses and general goofiness. Active participation is strongly encouraged, so you may want to start racking your brains for any silly songs or tall tales to share.
The venue for the event is located at 4524 E 49th Street in Cuyahoga Heights. For more information, please visit www.clevelandmetroparks.com or call Foster Brown at 440-786-8530.
