Sing Happy Birthday at West Side Market in Cleveland Friday

West Side Market will officially turn 100 years old on Friday, November 2, and as Marie Antoinette famously said, “Let them eat cake!”

The momentous centennial celebration kicks off at 2pm with a “Happy Birthday” sing-along led by kindergarten students from Urban Community School. Free cake slices will then be available at a large number of vendor stands.

After eating your fill of birthday cake, head on to the Market Cafe where authors Laura Taxel and Marilou Suszko will be signing their just released new book, “Cleveland’s West Side Market: 100 Years and Still Cooking.” This book is a great read for those interested in the rich history of the Market, from its humble beginnings to its current highly successful state.

Make sure you get all your shopping done on Friday as well, as the Market will close early the next day (Saturday, November 3.) It will close at 2pm on that day, in preparation for the much anticipated sold out gala to be held that evening.
