The Strongsville Rugby Club will be kicking off its 2012 season on Friday, April 6. The community-based organization will be expanding to middle school and youth age levels this year.
The Strongsville Rugby Club competes in the North East Ohio Rugby league and last year, capped its season with a trip to the Division II State Championship, finishing as runner-up to St. Ignatius. The club is looking forward to returning to the championship this year, as well as to welcoming a new generation of rugby players.
Meanwhile, the All-Marine basketball team in Berea will be putting on a free clinic for boys and girls. The event will take place from 9am to noon on Saturday, March 24 at Brook Park Recreation Center located at 17400 Holland Road.
Members of the team will be teaching the children skills and playing a scrimmage game later on. The clinic is in coordination with the Midnight Madness program that the recreation center will have the night before. During Midnight Madness, children in grades 3 to 8 will be competing in basketball skills from 9pm to midnight on March 23.
The event is $15.
