Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with your family at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and take part in a good cause as well. The zoo will be holding an event, simply entitled “St. Patrick’s Day at the Zoo” from 9:30am to 4pm on Sunday, March 17.
Because St. Patrick’s Day and the color green are pretty much inseparable, visitors are encouraged to celebrate the occasion by doing something “green” (that is, environmentally friendly) by donating old recyclable items such as used cell phones, aluminium cans, shoes and cooking and dining supplies. Donations may be dropped off at the Zoo’s box office on Sunday, and in return, participants will receive a $2 discount on the price of admission to the zoo.
Volunteers will be on hand to accept donations outside the Zoo’s box office during the times mentioned above.
Special offers are redeemable on March 17 only, and discounts are limited to one per person.
Proceeds from aluminium can recycling will go towards supporting the Zoo’s Cans for Conservation program, which helps fund conservation projects all over the world. This year’s collection will benefit Slow Loris Conservation, The Little Fireface Project. Donated cell phones and cooking and dining supplies will be recycled through various organizations, while paired shoes in good condition (all types except sandals, slippers and skates) will be recycled by Terracycle.
