The Strongsville Community Theatre will be finishing the year with a production of “Dearly Departed.” The comedy will be opening on December 2.
The play is about a Southern family and their raucous reaction to the death of their patriarch, which according to the synopsis includes the “not-so-grieving widow wanting to put ‘Mean and Surly’ on the tombstone.” Dearly Departed premiered at the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut in 1991. It received great critical acclaim that same year in its Off-Broadway opening at the Second Stage Theatre in New York. The New York Daily News heralded it as “drop dead funny.” This light-hearted, funny yet surprisingly touching play is the perfect way to end the year for the Theatre.
Performances will take place at 8pm on December 2, 3, 9 and 10 and at 2pm on December 4 and 11. All shows will take place at the Strongsville High School Little Theater on 20025 Lunn Road (accessible through entrance D).
Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and students.
