Strongsville High School students collect donations for Hondurans

Students of Strongsville High School are collecting donations to give to Honduran students and schools.

This spring break, fifteen students and a few teachers will be traveling to Honduras to help underprivileged children and schools all over the country. The group will be needing supplies for the lessons they will teach at the schools, as well as clothing and money for the children.

Requested supplies include pencils, pens, erasers, crayons, maps, flash cards, calculators, chalk, coloring books, markers, yarn, beads, games, puzzles, t-shirts, jeans, socks, shorts, deodorant, toothpaste, body lotion, razors, hair gel, soaps, vitamins and tooth brushes.

Boxes will be set up all around the high school to collect the supplies.

As teacher Jessica Frenchik explained, Honduras is the second poorest country in the western hemisphere, with most Honduran boys only owning one pair of jeans a few shirts.

Donations will be accepted during the whole month of March. The trip to Honduras is on April 6. Each student and teacher-chaperone hopes to bring around 100 pounds of donated goods. Contributions are tax-deductible.
