Strongsville residents Rob and Brenda Kammer will conduct their “Campaign to Fight Local Hunger” food drive for the third year in a row on July 1.
The Kammers have enlisted the help of clients and select business throughout the city and surrounding area through their print communications business on Pearl Road, AlphaGraphics of Strongsville. Donations will be distributed at the end of the month to the Strongsville Emergency Food Bank, Second Harvest of Lorain County and The Coalition of Medina County Food Pantries.
Rob Kammer’s previous involvement with the Strongsville Emergency Food Bank through the Rotary Club of Strongsville inspired the campaign, and a traditionally light work load during the summer months allows the Kammers to focus on the drive.
Mr. Kammer said, “In the summer, many of our clients go on vacation, and it gives us something to do.” He added that summers also typically see low donation levels at food pantries.
About 4,000 pounds of goods were distributed within the counties they were donated from last year, and more than 30 businesses participated in the campaign.
“It’s been very heartwarming to see how people respond when asked,” Mr. Kammer said.
“Some of them really look forward to it,” Brenda Kammer added.
