Strongsville to Dedicate New Youth Baseball Fields in July

The city of Strongsville will celebrate the completion of three new youth baseball fields with a dedication ceremony at the Youth Sports Park at 21255 Lunn Road on July 15 at 5pm.

The project, which was financed through a $250,000 grand by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and a $50,000 donation from the Strongsville Travel Baseball Association, will enable over 2,000 boys and girls to utilize the facilities each year.

Sports, including baseball, is an important part of the Strongsville community, and the city always proudly acknowledges its young people who do well in this field. Boys and girls are often encouraged to go out and participate in different sports through the city’s various sports programs. Participating in team sports not only promotes a healthier lifestyle, but also fosters a sense of community and teamwork.

The ODNR funds were originally set aside for an outdoor water facility behind Royalton Road’s Walter F. Ehrnfelt Recreation Center, where the existing youth baseball fields are located. Approval was later granted to transfer the funds to finance the new youth baseball field construction project.

According to a city press release, the outdoor water facility project will still push through, and it is now in the initial planning stages. Meanwhile, sports activities will now be relocated to the new Lunn Road fields.
