If you, like so many Americans, may have overindulged in the eating and feasting during the holidays or fallen behind on your regular exercise routine, the Strongsville Women’s League has some good news for you. The group will kick off its annual free Strongsville Weighs Less program on Saturday, January 12. The program is a great way to start the New Year, by getting back on the fitness bandwagon and eating better and exercising to improve your health.
The program gets it jumpstart from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, at the lobby of the Ehrnfelt Recreation Center located at 18100 Royalton Road. This will be the third annual health fair and weigh-in.
According to Christy Vago, publicity director for the Strongsville Women’s League, the program offers anyone who lives or works in Strongsville a free and discreet body mass index, blood pressure and blood glucose screenings with the assistance of nurses from Southwest General Medical Center.
Vago said, “Last year we had close to 20 health vendors providing information and healthy food samples. It’s a great service for us to be able to provide to the community.”
The aim of the project is to help residents not only lose weight but also improve their overall health and wellbeing. Vago said that for the last two years at least 150 people have participated in the program.
With the holidays now over and only a few more months till vacation season, there’s no better time than now to start getting into shape.
