This year's Black History month at the Rock Hall puts Ladies First

The theme for this year’s festivities for Black History Month at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is “Ladies First: Celebrating African-American Women Who Rock.” Events will focus on paying tribute to black female artists, in line with the “Women Who Rock” exhibition, which runs through Sunday, February 26.

Programs will mostly take place at the Rock Hall at 1100 Rock and Roll Blvd in Cleveland. They are free of charge with a reservation, which can be made starting at 10am on Friday, February 3 by visiting tickets.rockhall.com or calling 216-515-8426.

The festivities kick off on Wednesday, February 8, with a “Teachers Rock” session at 4:30pm at the Rock Hall Library and Archives. The event is aimed at educators who want to learn more about the new facility’s resources on black women in rock. At 7pm on the same day, there will be a screening of “Say My Name,” a film about female musicians MC Lyte, Erykah Badu, Estelle and other R&B and hip-hop artists.

The Rock Hall Library and Archives is located at 2809 Woodland Ave in Cleveland.
