The Cleveland Museum of Art is bringing back one of its most popular events, the Summer Solstice music festival, on Saturday, June 30. The celebration combines food, drinks and music inside and outside the museum with late hours in the museum’s galleries.
Tickets to the event go on sale Tuesday, May 1. You can purchase them either by calling 216-421-7340 or logging on to the museum’s website, www.clevelandart.org.
The first ever Summer Solstice festival was held in 2009 to mark the opening of the museum’s East Wing. Over 4,000 people attended it, and the event has remained hugely popular ever since.
Tom Welsh, the museum’s associate director of music, describes the event as “a way for the museum to present itself in a more informal, summertime-fun kind of way.” Indeed, it does involve a lot of fun, with visitors coming from all over Cleveland to enjoy the food, music and dancing.
This year, visitors can check out the “Youth and Beauty” exhibition on American art of the 1920s, or enjoy a wide range of unique and interesting music such as Ethiopian funk or Afro-Peruvian electronica.
Tickets to the event are $60 per person from 7:30pm to 2am or $30 for museum members and $25 per person from 10pm to 2am.
