What to Plant if You Don't Have a Green Thumb

If you are planning to sell your home soon, you may have heard of the term “curb appeal” and how it can help attract buyers and get your home sold quickly. Basically, most potential buyers will judge your home and decide whether they’d like to take a look inside or if they’d rather pass just based on what it looks like on the outside. This means that you should put some thought into making your home’s exteriors look as attractive and appealing as possible. Flowers and plants in your yard are a really good way to do that, but what happens if your green thumb is all but non-existent? Worry not, there are lots of varieties you can plant to have a pretty and colorful garden without worrying about them dying within days because of your lack of gardening skill. Here are a few of them now:

1. Lantanas. These low-maintenance, sun-loving flowers are a garden expert’s favorite because they come in a range of colors and are incredibly easy to care for, doing well even in hot pavement spots like parking lots.

2. Aloes. These succulents hail from South Africa, Arabia and Madagascar and are very hardy and tough. They are reliable plants that can be counted on to brighten up your garden in both winter and spring, tolerating salt, enjoying a gritty, well-drained soil and only needing to be watered once a month if you can remember!

3. Thyme. If this sounds like it should be in your kitchen instead of your garden, think again. Yes, you can use it in your cooking, but thyme is actually an excellent plant to have in your yard as it offers not only color but also texture and wonderful scent. Thyme is drought resistant and loves the sun, and usually has flowers that are white, pink or red, which cover the plant from spring through fall. As an added bonus, thyme attracts butterflies like mad!
